What's all this then?

I've started this blog to encourage myself to write something at least weekly. If you are reading this you have stumbled across this page by some fortuitous accident. I have no immediate plans to let anyone know this page exists, though it won't be hidden either. Welcome wandering stranger. Once I reach a critical mass of posts or if I write something half decent I may tell Facebook about it. But that's later.

Why?

I want to write gooder. I might do a course or join a writing group, but for now I just want to generate quantity regularly. Quality may or may not follow.

Why now?

Christmas Day 2012 I emigrated from Australia to Wales. A symptom of the culture shock I am experiencing is a heightened awareness of small differences. It may be fun to use these as launching points for a few posts. Generally I'll be writing about personal experiences and trying to take an imaginary reading audience along for the ride.

What do you want from me?

If you've read a post and you have something constructive to say, say it in the comments. Agree, disagree, like it, hate it, whatever - but tell me why. Constructive is the key. "This sux 'cause you're a douche!" may be true and surprisingly well punctuated but it's not that useful.
